15 Colorful Houses Around New Orleans

new orleans live music calendar

New Orleans can be a strange place, but at the same time nothing in New Orleans is strange. No matter how weird it is it all fits in here. That is just how life is in the Big Easy.

Travel fills my cup. โœˆ๏ธ Although being constantly on the go drains me, it simultaneously fuels me. I know… Weird, right?! It's an enigma, really. ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ ___ But as an avid traveller, I love to educate myself about where I'm travelling. And when I walked into my @airbnb here in NOLA and noticed what an interesting layout the house was, I just had to know more. ๐Ÿ’ญ It turns out the house the Good Vibes Wellness tribe will be staying in this week is known as a "shotgun house." ๐Ÿก ___ Tradition holds that the name "shotgun" derives from the notion of firing bird shot through the front door and out the rear without touching a wall. The exterior of the house looks just like any other, but interior of the house is essentially one straight hallway soooo you need to walk through everyone's room to get to the kitchen or bathroom – which is interesting. ๐Ÿ™Š ___ According to some theories, cultures that produced shotgun houses (and other residences without hallways, such as Creole cottages) tended to be more gregarious, or at least unwilling to sacrifice valuable living space for the purpose of occasional passage. ___ #NOLAFACTS ___ #nola #neworleans #neworleansla #louisiana #neworleansculture #neworleans #neworleanslouisiana #shotgunhouse #shotgunhousesofneworleans #travel #instatravel #girlswhotravel #theadventuresofamandrew
